Born Punk is a captivating cyberpunk point-and-click adventure game that offers a truly amazing experience. With its unique and distinctive style, influenced by classics like Monkey Island and Beneath a Steel Sky, it manages to please both veteran aficionados of the genre and newcomers alike.
The game takes place in Bornholm, a sprawling metropolis in the Baltic Sea that rivals major world powers thanks to its technological marvel known as the Space Elevator. As players dive into the role of three characters - Eevi, Mariposa, and Grandmaster Flashdrive - they are thrust into an intriguing narrative where each character gets possessed by mysterious entities of unknown origin.
Together, these unlikely companions must work together (and sometimes against each other) to unravel the true nature of these beings and uncover their intentions. Through dialogue choices and puzzle-solving mechanics, players can approach interactions from different angles - resulting in various outcomes with real consequences.
One standout feature is Born Punk's vibrant world filled with animation, soundscapes, and meticulous attention to detail. You won't feel like you're walking through a still life painting; instead, every corner of this pixel-art universe feels alive.
The voice-overs bring even more life into the game with every character being voiced by professional actors (yes even including a talking cat). And let's not forget about Jeff Kurtenacker's bombastic music composition along with other talented synthwave musicians who create an emotional cyberpunk/sci-fi soundtrack with a Nordic twist.
